Cherry Bomb

I know very little about hair and makeup, and I have to confess that I get overwhelmed every time I enter a beauty and makeup store like Sephora.  This is why I prefer to get my beauty products from the nearest pharmacy —not too many options and it fits my budget.  Although I avoid wearing makeup on a daily basis and my hair is always a mess, when it comes down to getting all dressed up, I enjoy the makeup/hairdressing process as much as I enjoy selecting the perfect outfit; it is pure satisfaction.  I have been doing my hair and makeup for as long as I can remember without any help (okay, maybe some Youtube help, but that's it), and suddenly I found myself doing all of my friends' styling before going out.  It just came natural to me.
I recently discovered the magic of mousse; you put it on your hand, watch it grow into a snowball, and then you spread it all over your hair to style it however you want.  It's pretty fun and effective.  Now I find myself wearing it almost every day to achieve a perfect bun or ponytail that lasts even after my soccer practice.  In these pictures, I just applied the mousse to nicely emphasize the waves of my hair, and then did my usual side-part hairstyle to score a glamorous look.
When it comes to my makeup, I like simplicity.  Since my eyelid is practically not visible, wearing too much eye shadow is almost non sense.  That's why the majority of the time I choose a cat-eye instead, which make my eyes look bigger.  This time, I did a faded smoky eye and managed to add a dramatic flare to the look with a bold lipstick as per usual.
So, this is what I call my "Fall's Classic Look".
What do you think?

Sincerely,
Andrea Devoto

Into the Blue

Maybe the one thing that nobody knows about me is that I love makeup. That is because I just wear it if I want to cover any temporary imperfection or for some special occasion. But still, I always choose between a brown smoky eye or just a black cat-eye. But when it comes to my lipstick, on the contrary, I love to try out every color that could accentuate my full lips.
This time I chose to experiment with the opposite: striking eyes and neutral lips. Lately I have been seeing a lot of amazing blue eye makeup on the runways and editorials. So I just thought I could give it a shot. The secret is to make it impeccable or it could turn out into a total disaster making yourself look tacky in lieu of classy. I tried this blue cat-eye makeup before but I've never left home with it. I always play it safe with the classic black cat-eye and red lips combo.

What do you think? Should I give it a try and leave home with it next time?

A Magical Piece

I would like to take today's post to talk about my latest creation which you might have seen on my last post. Just to give you some background information, two months ago a generous designer gave me this silk fabric with an amazing, one of a kind print. The first thing that came to mind was making a flare midi skirt, because: 1) I thought the print had potential to manifest its beauty in movement, 2) I was craving a skirt like the one on Isa Arfen's SS'14 collection; very femenine and classy.
The end results were perfectly as I imagined. When I tried it on, I felt like wandering the streets of Paris, just like Maryna Linchuk in the Miss Dior Chérie commercial. I know the streets of this Island are nothing like Paris, but at least I got my magical, one a kind skirt that does a good job of making me feel like a true femme parisienne.

I'm looking forward to showing you more of my creations in the near future.
Thanks for reading!

Sneak Peek | Reina Mora FW'14

Last month I was working with Reina Mora on her Fall/Winter '14 collection. While I was doing my work as her stylist, I had this great idea of making crowns in a crafty way to add a fun look to a few outfits.
The end results were fantastic —and when I say fantastic, I mean FANTASTIC. The headpieces I made matched perfectly with the collection.
I'm so excited and can't even wait to show you the official photos from the campaign with the other two crowns I made.

Stay tuned for more!

On the Dot

I love everything that involves creativity and working with my hands, such as drawing, sewing and making crafts. These Polka Dot pants were the first piece I did at my sewing class two years ago, and they quickly became a staple of my wardrobe, mainly due to it's versatility when it came to constructing outfits.
I hope to show you more of my works and projects soon.

Happy New Year, my lovely readers!

A Sip of Spring/Summer '14

Dolce & Gabbana SS'14

Oscar de La Renta SS'14

Spring and Summer are definitely my favorite seasons of the year. This became even more apparent after watching the SS'14 Fashion Week Shows. As much as I love minimal clothes, prints and textures are lately my newest obsession. I was really inspired by the simple silhouettes and the stunning patterns from Valentino and Dolce & Gabbana's collections for next season, so I decided to practice my drawing skills by illustrating a couple of garments I spotted on their runway. I know I still need a lot of improvement, but I'm working on it.

Thanks for visiting my blog!
