STEP INTO SPRING

Wearing: Clutch c/o Ama Pena | Sunglasses: ZeroUV c/o Be You Eyewear | Shoes: F21 | Jeans: Zara | Shirt: Marshall's

I may confess that Delpozo has me dreaming about all the possible ways to style my white shirt for Spring 2015.  I'm all about this timeless yet modern classic item which you can blend into your ensemble or make it stand out.  A crisp white shirt can elevate your attire and make it look polished and mature.  Just take a look at Carolina Herrera's signature look.  I took a first step into this trend by pairing it with my favorite skinny jeans --because a pair of well-fitted jeans can never go wrong.

You might be wondering where did I get that clutch.  Well, a few months ago, a designer called   Ama Peña contacted me via email to introduce me to her designs.  She then sent me this clutch with a post card and a handwritten letter telling me the story behind her creations.  As a student, Peña figured out a way to make money without having to invest in expensive materials.  She took advantage of her old clothes to make clutches which made her very interested in pieces with a history behind them.  She moved to New York almost two years ago to follow her dreams which involved her passion for textiles and design.  Her amazing designs are proof that this designer has a good attention to details and the eye for good quality pieces.  This clutch in particular is the perfect addition to a sophisticated yet casual ensemble.  Want to know more about her work?  Follow Ama Peña on Instagram and like her page on Facebook.

SUPERHERO BLUES

Necklace: Pineappleheart | Sunglasses: Zero UV from Be You Eyewear | Blazer: Marshall's | Shoes: UO | Dress: F21

I will never ditch neutral colors, yet I always have the urge to experiment with some brights.  The secret is to select a bright item to be the main focus and keep the rest in neutral colors.  In this particular case, I chose this Cobalt blue knee length blazer as the main character which reminds me of a superhero cape.  Whether it might be the bright blue or the cape-like shape, this blazer always makes me feel like flying.  The real power is that, no matter where you go, it will always make you stand out.

Thanks for passing by!

Sincerely,

TAKE 5: CULOTTES

Photos: Francheska Natalia / Culottes & Top: Marshall's / Shoes: H&M / Sunglasses: Free People

Lately, I've been trying to simplify a lot of things in my life.  With so much to do and so little time, maintaining everything as simple as possible is the best option.  But we all know that staying simple is not an easy task, so it takes a lot of time to figure out how to organize everything in the minimal way.  When it comes to my outfits, my secret to stay simple is to stick with the classics.  This is how I discovered my latest wardrobe acquisition: Culotte pants.
These wide leg cropped trousers are the perfect item to elevate your classic style.  Culottes or gaucho pants are not only amazingly comfortable but really easy to combine.  I like to think about them as the edgy version of the midi skirt.  It's a good combination between feminine and masculine style which gives a touch of sophistication to any attire.

Yay or nay?

Sincerely,
Andrea Devoto

After School Special

T-Shirt: F21 Men / Skirt: F21 / Shoes: Zara / Purse: Vintage / Sunglasses: Free People
Photos by: Stephanie Segarra

One post wasn't enough to show you my skills of dressing up as a school girl.  Although this look wasn't intended to end up like it, I figured it could be a continuation of the last one.  Maybe, all of those years of school and dressing up every morning in a uniform, are now a delightfully nostalgic way revisiting my past.  Or I might have been obsessing with some of Petra Collins' photography for Rookie Mag, which got me a little bit inspired to do so.  I would say it's a combination of both, and with the help of Steph and her amazing skills to pick the accurate scenario for every outfit, we achieved the perfect offbeat yet sober school girl look we were aiming for.

This outfit could also be an easy last minute costume for Halloween. What do you think?

Andrea Devoto

Lunch Break

Skirt: F21 / Turtle neck (mom's closet) / Backpack: Nine West / Cut-out boots: UO / Sunnies: 80's Purple

A few weeks ago I spent the afternoon experimenting with a different photographer; Stephanie Segarra. We were aiming to bring back the school girl vibes in an editorial perspective of an outfit post, and to incorporate some of this season's essentials. Those are: 1) anything with plaids, 2) turtle necks, 3) cut-out ankle boots, and 4) backpacks.

More outfits from this day are coming soon so stick around!

Sporting Life

It seems as if sporty and laid back trends are still making noise at the runways.  Designers are beautifully combining luxurious aesthetics with sport wear elements managing to make the modern woman look sexy and powerful.  Who doesn't want to be a bride dressed in a Chanel number, and pair it with trainers to walk (or maybe run) down the isle?

Being a sporty chick myself, how couldn't I be a big fan of this trend?  I've been incorporating a sporty flair to my outfits since I was a tomboy in primary school.  Now, my attires add up a lady-like side to the equation.

This look was all about styling a cute top in an unexpected way to make it look edgy and casual.  The sportswear pieces made of leather balance out the outfit between relaxed and sophisticated.

Luxe athletic, sporty chic, or whatever you like to call it, is a trend that is here to stay.
Now, who's ready for the Alexander Wang x H&M collection?  I am.

Thanks for passing by!
Sincerely, Andrea Devoto

Blue Jeans

—"Mom Jeans?!", my boyfriend exclaimed with surprise.
—"Yes", I replied. "I want a pair of Mom Jeans with a high waist, straight leg, and the perfect wash".
He was still confused. Why would I want those ugly 90's Mom Jeans? Well, the nineties are back! To his surprise, I found the perfect ones two weeks ago while on our stay at New York City, and they actually got his approval.

Life is always easier when you have a pair of blue jeans with the perfect fit.

What do you think? Yay or Nay?
